Fresh hop the new seasonal beer?

After the summer holidays, gingerbread cookies are already in the stores, that much is certain. After that, it won't be long until bock beer also makes its appearance on the shelves, and autumn is complete! But less and less bock beer is being consumed, and a new seasonal beer is popping up all over the Netherlands – Fresh Hop beers.
For us, it's nothing new anymore – we've been brewing with fresh hops for 6 years. In 2019, we launched the first Klophop, brewed with hops from the Klopvaart city garden, which is a stone's throw from the brewery.
More and more breweries are getting into hops. They have their own hop field, or work closely with a local hop farmer. And local isn't always around the corner – a lot of hops grow in Germany, the Czech Republic, Austria, Slovenia, France, and Belgium.

Fresh hop beers
What makes Fresh Hop beers so special? With Fresh Hop beers, the hop cone is used without being dried first. This means that the flowers must be brewed within 24 hours!
Normally, hops provide bitterness and aroma depending on where you apply them in the process. Want to know all about it? Read more here.
A good Fresh Hop beer has a unique green taste. You can achieve this by processing a lot of fresh flowers during the brewing process. Another option is to add the flowers into the fermentation tank and allow the cold beer to come into contact with the hops. This primarily yields very fresh, grassy aromas and flavors that you wouldn't otherwise readily find in a beer!

Our Fresh Hop program for 2025

October 18: Fresh Hop Festival. We invited all breweries to submit their fresh hop beers, and they did! At the festival, you can enjoy more than 30 fresh hop beers! Additionally, there will be live music and delicious food. Last year was incredibly fun, so we hope you'll join us again this year!
During this festival, we will also launch our 7 Fresh Hop beers. Of course, we'll taste the fruits of our labor on September 13 and 14 with Klophop. We will also launch 3 new Fresh Hop beers and 3 versions of our Core Range beers with Fresh Hop added.
