Three times gold at international beer competition
During the annual Brussels Beer Challenge, a leading international beer competition for breweries, vandeStreek bier once again won a prize. The Utrecht brewer takes home no less than three gold medals where more than 1800 beers from 41 different countries have been tasted. The medal of honor this year goes to the Playground non-alcoholic IPA, the Fun House non-alcoholic IPA and the Quadrupel 4-Barrel Blend.
It is not the first award that vandeStreek beer has won for the non-alcoholic beers they brew. The Playground has already been awarded a medal three times in previous Brussels Beer Challenges and last September won gold during the prestigious European Beer Star. In addition to the gold medal, the Fun House also won the NABLAB award, given to the highest scoring non-alcoholic beer of the competition. "It's fantastic to get confirmation year after year that we brew really good non-alcoholic beer," says Ronald van de Streek. “Each award motivates us and feels like an extra crown on our work.”
VandeStreek beer is not a newcomer in the category for barrel aged beers. In previous years, the barley wine matured in bourbon barrels has already won prizes and this year the Quadrupel, matured in four different types of barrels, won the gold medal. “A wonderful compliment to our craftsmanship of cask maturation of beers,” says Sander van de Streek. “Something we have been seriously working on for several years now with great pleasure.”
At the beginning of December we will open our second tasting room on the Oudegracht in the center of hometown Utrecht. “Of course you can also taste all prize winners there!”
