Café Lombok is getting a makeover!
Good news: Café Lombok officially has a new future. After a long and intensive permit process, we have received the green light for the takeover and renovation. All permits have been approved, and we will receive the keys in March. This means the renovation can start immediately.
The plans are ready, and the renovation is expected to take 3 to 4 weeks. If everything goes according to plan, we will open the doors of the renovated Café Lombok at the end of March / beginning of April.
Additionally, we have created a newspaper: "Lombok Vernieuwt." This was physically distributed among the residents of the Café Lombok neighborhood. In the newspaper, we share more about the plans, the story behind the renovation, and what this means for the neighborhood.

A fresh impulse while retaining character
Café Lombok remains Café Lombok: an accessible, lively neighborhood café with a strong focus on beer. We are giving the café a thorough refresh, including:
- A renewed bar
- Additional taps
- A warm and contemporary interior
- A refreshed terrace
The familiar character will be preserved but will receive a fresh, contemporary look.
In addition to vandeStreek beers, other Utrecht breweries will also get a permanent spot on tap. In the fridge, you will soon find a carefully selected assortment of bottles and cans: classics and discoveries for the true beer enthusiast.
Café Lombok will be a place where you discover new flavors but always feel welcome.
Thanks to our Lombok Legends
Thanks to the support of our guests and neighborhood – and especially all Lombok Legends – we can take this step. The credit purchased during the crowdfunding remains fully valid and can be spent as soon as we open.
We will, of course, keep everyone updated on the exact opening date.
Bar credit packages:
• €50 – tasting credit + ‘I Love Lombok’ sticker
• €100 – + Lombok Legend certificate
• €250 – + packaged tasting room glass
• €500 – + Lombok Legend T-shirt
The credit remains valid for three years and can be fully spent on food and drinks in the renovated café restaurant.

About vandeStreek Horeca
Since 2013, vandeStreek has been brewing innovative beers in Utrecht. In 2019, the company also started a hospitality branch, with several locations to date:
• 2019 – Tasting room at the brewery (tours & beer tastings)
• 2022 – vandeStreek Oudegracht (café-restaurant with 20 taps and an extensive dinner menu)
• 2023 – Pop-up in the Dom Tower (temporary bar in an iconic location)
• 2026 – Café Lombok: third permanent location
The hospitality business is managed by Lukas Ausems and Ronald Lentz, allowing founders Ronald and Sander van de Streek to continue focusing on brewing beer.

Café Lombok will remain open as you have been used to for over 12 years. So, please keep coming by for a good glass of beer, a tasty meal, and to support the local entrepreneur. In the meantime, we are working hard behind the scenes on all preparations for the future.
