Turf 'n Surf
In this creamy Tripel, land and sea subtly come together in the form of Smoke and Sea Salt. We love both, so be kind to Land and Sea! The malt in this beer is 1% peat-smoked, just as you might know from smoky whisky.
The smoke in this beer acts as a flavouring and flavour enhancer and is in perfect balance with the full taste of the Tripel and the sea salt. If you drink the Turf 'n Surf Tripel cold from the fridge, it is lightly briny; as you drink, the beer warms up and the subtle smoke slowly emerges. This change in character also makes the beer culinarily interesting.
This Tripel originated when Ronald suggested to Sander that he wanted to brew a Tripel. Sander wasn't immediately fond of the idea, so the brothers decided to head into Utrecht for an evening and drink only Tripels. After a few rounds, it became clear that there were enough boring Tripels and a 'vandeStreek' twist was needed.
Because the last pub they ended up in still had salt and pepper on the table, the idea of salt was quickly born. After the first sip, Ronald went to the bar to order a delicious smoky Islay whisky. With a few drops in the glass, the first prototype for Turf 'n Surf Tripel was born.
