International Bitterness Unit

IBU is the bitterness of beer. Dutch pilsner is approximately 15-20 IBU, while a West Coast IPA can quickly reach 60 IBU. IBU is always in proportion to the alcohol percentage of the beer, so a heavy beer with high IBU can still taste sweet because the maltiness overpowers the bitterness.

The story

Hop Art

In the 1980s, the first American breweries began to emerge, seeking innovation by using local hops. This led to the creation of the West Coast IPA, a clear and bitter beer packed with hops that impart citrus notes to the beer.

In our Hop Art, West Coast IPA, we also use these classic 'C' hops; Columbus for bitterness, Cascade and Citra for aroma and flavor.

Hop Art gluten-free IPA bears the Crossed Grain certification mark from the Dutch Coeliac Society. It is a refreshing IPA with peach and lemon flavors that come entirely from the hops. At 5%, we keep the beer accessible for all beer drinkers and even invite them for a second round!
