Freshly draft beer for the home – why you need the 'Growler'
Freshly tapped for beer at home, is that possible? That is certainly possible and is closer than you think. You do this by filling a so-called growler.
Growlers come in many shapes and sizes. They are made of glass, stone, plastic or tin and have one thing in common - they are made to fill freshly tapped beer. This beer can then be kept refrigerated for a number of days to a few weeks. Ideal for cycling directly to the park or to take with you instead of the age-old bottle of wine when you go out for dinner.
It seems to be a trend that blows over from America where you can have your favorite beer filled at all small breweries and in cafes to soldier on that evening on the couch. However, these types of filling methods have long been the most normal thing in the world for our eastern neighbors.
In Amsterdam it started with a number of Bierige hotspots such as Craft & Draft de Beer tree and van Bieren. We are very proud that Van Bieren has also settled in Utrecht and has put Broeders Tarwe blond on the 'growler station' here. So – run to the Nachtegaalstraat and stock up on a fresh growler for the park, at dinner, on your balcony or just on the couch!
