Starting at the Utrecht Bierbrouwers Festival
Since the beginning of this year, the Netherlands has gained a new brewery. Sander and Ronald van de Streek started with “vandeStreek beer”. On May 11, during the Utrechtse Bierbrouwers Festival, they will present themselves with two new beers.
The beer “Broeders” is a real thirst quencher. A fresh hoppy beer that includes wheat, brewed exclusively with organic ingredients. VandeStreek also presents beer “Dark Roast”, a powerful, dark beer full of flavour. This beer owes its taste partly to the coffee used in the brewing process.
The van de Streek brothers are not entirely new to the brewing world, they have had a taste of it as home brewers over the past three years. Sander, the eldest of the two brothers, says: “As a home brewer you can use a range of ingredients and techniques on a small scale, we have learned a lot from that. We brew everything from pilsner to weizen and from stout to IPA ”
The start of vandeStreek bier was made possible in part by a so-called 'crowdfunding' campaign. Part of the starting capital was collected by selling beer to enthusiastic friends, family and colleagues in advance. Ronald adds: “Many friends were enthusiastic about our beers, so we let them put their money where their mouth is, now we just have to live up to 93 expectations”.
Furthermore, the agenda for the gentlemen is already quite full: later this month (23 – 25 May) vandeStreek beer will also be at the Dutch Beer Tasting Festival in The Hague during the week of Dutch beer.
