Organic Beer: A New Step for vandeStreek Bier

Hey beer lovers, it's time to raise a glass because vandeStreek Bier is going green(er)! We are delighted to share our most recent milestone with you. As of today, we are brewing our pilsner organically!

It all started with the recent closure of De Leckere, a Utrecht brewery that many of you already know. After their bankruptcy, numerous hospitality venues sought locally brewed alternatives, and our pilsner was often considered the perfect choice. But something was still missing from our story: the organic aspect.

Brewing organic beer is not an easy task. There are strict regulations to ensure that the entire production chain is organic. In the Netherlands, Skal is responsible for certification and supervision in this area. The certification process went quite smoothly for us, thanks to our strong emphasis on traceability, quality control, and process management. Of course, we had to make some small adjustments, but today we can proudly present our very first batch of Organic Pilsner!

Our pilsner has always been a clear, refreshing beer. It was introduced with the opening of vandeStreek Oudegracht, our food bar where beer and food go hand in hand.

Why organic, I hear you ask? Well, it's no coincidence that we are taking this step. We have decided to brew our Pilsner organically to show our commitment to sustainability. And that's just the beginning! Our plan for the future? To brew more of our core range beers organically. It's our way of contributing to a cleaner, greener world while maintaining our passion for beer.

By the way, for those living gluten-free, there's good news. Our Pilsner is also gluten-free!

You will be able to find our organic beer in more and more places, and we hope that this product will conquer even more taps and shelf space. And if you're wondering when you can expect more organic options, well, we have big plans! Throughout the first quarter of 2024, other beers from our regular assortment will also become organic. We continue to work on high-quality beers, where sustainability and quality go hand in hand.
