Brew day with De Magistraat was one to remember. They challenged us to reinvent a classic style. We even tasted the barrel neat... but which barrel is this beer on, and which classic style did we tackle?
Barrel: Crème de Cassis

With Van Moll, we took a surprisingly different path. Their idea brought our beer to a white wine barrel. What style would you put on this?
Barrel: White Wine (Chardonnay, Bordeaux)
Floem came to us with a plan for a robust stout, but with a tropical twist. Coconut became the key, and then the beer was aged in a barrel for extra depth. Which barrel that is? That remains a secret for now.
Barrel: Bourbon (Jim Beam)

Frontaal suggested that we smoke our own malt – an opportunity we naturally seized immediately. The brew day was all about smoke, fire, and barrels… but the exact flavours that emerge will only be discovered later.
Barrel: Speyside Whisky (Glenlivet)

Our friends from Groningen came up with a wild idea: an imperial sour, but taken a step further. What happens if you also age something like that in a barrel? We won't reveal the result yet, but expect a big surprise.
Barrel: Maple Bourbon (Canada)

The Belgians travelled to Utrecht and, of course, wanted to brew a tripel, but not just any tripel. They gave it a spicy twist before the beer went into the barrel. Which barrel, exactly?
Barrel: Cognac (grande champagne).
