EBC

15

European Brewery Convention

EBC is the color of beer. EBC stands for European Brewers Convention. The scale ranges from yellow (10) to red (25) to black (>70).

IBU

34

International Bitterness Unit

IBU is the bitterness of beer. Dutch pilsner is approximately 15-20 IBU, while a West Coast IPA can quickly reach 60 IBU. IBU is always in proportion to the alcohol percentage of the beer, so a heavy beer with high IBU can still taste sweet because the maltiness overpowers the bitterness.

The story

Zonnesteek

After a long winter we long for a heat stroke. The warm feeling of the first rays of the sun on your skin, looking for your summer coat or no – going outside without a coat! That's what we celebrate every year when we brew Sunstroke again in the spring. Zonnesteek is a lager, a bottom fermented beer. This technique results in a drinkable beer with plenty of room for balance between hops and malt, which we are happy to accept. Part of the malt is caramelized and that is where the orange gold color of this beer comes from. We brew Zonnesteek Sunshine lager with American hops to emphasize the sunny character of the beer. These hop varieties give the beer a tropical character. A heat stroke that you would like to have, and the other applies; keep lubricating!
